Jesus was in Jerusalem.
He wanted to go to the temple.
There were lots of people in the temple area.
These
people were not praying.
These people were doing wrong things.
As Jesus entered the temple area, he was surprised at what he saw.
Jesus saw moneychangers.
Jesus saw people selling doves and sheep and oxen.
Jesus saw people buying them.
Jesus had to put a stop to this.
He picked up a cord and drove out the moneychangers.
He turned over their tables.
Their coins spilled on the floor.
Jesus drove out the people that were buying and selling.
He drove out the animals.
Jesus said to them, "My house is a house of prayer but you are making it a den of thieves."
The blind and the lame came to Jesus.
He healed them.
The chief priests saw the children in the temple crying and saying, "Hosanna to the Son of David."
This made them very unhappy.
They said to Jesus, "Do you hear what they are saying?"
Jesus answered them, "Yes, have you never read, 'Out of the mouths of babes, Oh God, you have drawn perfect praise?"
Jesus left the temple.
Jesus had cleaned the temple and made it His House of Prayer.

What do you think?
Should animals should be sold at your church?
Should a church be the House of Prayer?
Did Jesus do the right thing?
Write to me and tell me what you think, BUT, ask your parents first.

Let's Pray
Dear God,
Thank you for sending Jesus to show us.
Thank you for teaching us the right way.
Help our church to always be a House of Prayer.
Help us to remember to keep our church clean.
This I ask through Christ Our Lord
Can you think of a better prayer?
