Jesus was arrested in the garden.

The soldiers took him away.

Peter followed them.

He followed them far behind.

He didn't want the soldiers to see him.

They took Jesus to the place where they take prisoners.

Peter hid in a safe place.

A girl passing by saw Peter.

She asked Peter, "Aren't you one of Jesus' followers?"

Peter answered, "I don't know what you're talking about."

Someone else asked, "You were with him, weren't you?"

Peter said, "I don't even know the man."

Someone else said, "You sound just like him."

Peter was afraid.

Peter shouted, "I don't know Him!"

Peter heard the rooster crow.

Peter remembered what Jesus had said.

Jesus had told him, "Before the rooster crows you will say, three times, that you don't know me."

This made Peter very sad.

He cried and ran away.

Did you think Peter would do that?

Was it just like Jesus had said?
