Jesus Stories
The Acts of the Apostles

How You Have Changed!

Paul hated the Christians.

He was so mean to all, men and women, who were Christians.

He wanted them all put in jail.

He had gone to a high Priest in Jerusalem.

Paul had requested a letter from him.

The letter said that all Christians must be put in jail.

Paul was with a group of men.

They were near Damascus.

They were all going there to stop the spread of Christianity.

While they were traveling, just outside of Damascus, a strange light showed down from heaven.

The light was terribly bright.

The light kept getting brighter and brighter.

It just surrounded Paul.

Paul fell to the ground.

Just then he heard a voice.

The voice said, "PAUL! PAUL! Why are you persecuting me?"

Paul didn't recognize the voice.

"Who is speaking?" Paul asked.

The voice answered, "I am Jesus. Now get up and go to Damascus and wait for Ananius "

Everyone with Paul was amazed.

They heard the voice, too.

They saw no one.

Paul picked himself up off the ground.

What had happened?

He couldn't see!

He was blind.

His friends helped him to Damascus.

Ananius lived in Damascus.

He had heard that Paul was coming.

He had heard of all those awful things that Paul had done to Christians.

Ananius, along with other Christians were worried.

The Lord spoke to Ananius in a vision saying, "Ananius!"

"Yes, Lord," said Ananius.

"Go to Straight Street and find Paul," said the Lord.

"But Lord," said Ananius, "I have heard that Paul is so cruel.  What if he wants to hurt me?"

"It's ok," said the Lord.  "Go and do as I have asked."

So Ananius went to Paul's house.

Paul had been blind for 3 days now.

He neither ate nor drank during this time.

When Ananius arrived at Paul's house, he prayed for him.

"Brother Paul, the Lord sent me.  The Lord wants you filled with the Holy Spirit that you will get your sight back."

Instantly, Paul could see again.

He ate and drank.

He was filled with the Holy Spirit.

Paul stayed in Damascus.

He became good friends with the Christians.

He learned from them.

Paul became a preacher.

It wasn't long until Paul started teaching people about Jesus.

What do you think?

Did you think Jesus cares about everyone?

Why do you think Paul changed?

Can anyone change?

Write and tell me what you think , BUT, ask your parents first.

Let's Pray:
Dear God,
Thank you for loving me.
Thank you for caring when I make mistakes.
Thank you for helping me change when I need to.
Help me to always remember to help others even when they are mean.
This I ask through Jesus Christ Our Lord.

Can you think of a better prayer?
