When people are in need, we should help them out of love ... the God-kind of love ...  We should always help others because it is what God wants us to do.  It is God's will.

We should never do things for others for what we can get out of it.
We should never do things for others to call attention to ourselves so they can praise us.  That's why Jesus said to do it privately
We know that God sees everything.  God sees what is done privately.

Giving privately and from the heart makes Jesus very happy
