Jesus tells us there were two men building houses.Go back to Sermon on the Mount
One man built his house on the sand and the other man built his house on rock.
The problem with the house built upon the sand was that when the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and burst against that house . . . it fell, and great was its fall. The house that was bult on the rock did not fall. It was still standing.
One person was a wise builder and the other person was a foolish builder. What wasthe difference between them? Jesus makes clear that the wise builder was the one who hears these words of Mine, and acts upon them. The foolish builder, was the one who hears these words of Mine, and does not act upon them. Both men heard, only one responded. Both heard, only one obeyed. And the one who obeyed stood. The one who only heard, fell.
Jesus told us it is not only what we hear that counts, it is what we do with what we hear that counts. The Words of Jesus applies to every Christian
The people surrounding Jesus were amazed at His teaching. He was a man who was teaching them as one having authority, and not as their scribes.
The reason why Jesus was teaching as one who had authority was that He did have authority.
Jesus is the authority.
Jesus is the Way.
Jesus is Truth.
Jesus knows and He tells us with every word, the right way.
