SAINT
ANDREW
November 30
Patron of :
Fishermen
ONE day John the Baptist and two of his
disciples, one of them Andrew, saw Jesus walk by. John said, "Behold the
Lamb of God!" And the two disciples followed Jesus.
They asked, "Where do You live, Master?" and
Jesus said, "Come and see."
They stayed with Jesus that day. Later Andrew
told his brother Peter, "We have found the Messiah." And he led him to
Jesus.
One day Jesus said to Peter and Andrew, "Go to
the deep water and let down your nets."
"Master," said Peter, "we have been fishing all
night, but have caught nothing."
But they let down their net. The net caught so
many fish that Peter and Andrew could not pull it up. They had to call
for help.
Jesus said, "Follow Me, and I will make you fishers
of men." And at once they gave up their work and followed Jesus.
Andrew preached the Gospel in Greece, and even
in Russia and Poland. He was put to death on a cross, made in the form
of an X.
Prayer
O Lord, You raised up St. Andrew, Your
Apostle to preach and rule in Your Church. Grant that we may always experience
the benefit of his intercession with You.
