The Lord's Prayer
Also called the
Our Father
This is the prayer that Jesus taught us to pray.  When Jesus  was asked how to pray to the Father,  Jesus answered (Matthew 6:9-13,  Luke 11:2-4),  Pray like this:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed by thy Name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.  Amen
This prayer is a perfect prayer and it should be said everyday.  Let's talk about this prayer and what it means

Our Father, who art in heaven,

This is saying who our prayer is going to.  God tells us He is Our Father and we are His children

hallowed by thy Name,

Hallowed is a big word that means "Holy".   By saying, "hallowed be thy Name", we are saying that God's name is holy.

thy kingdom come,

We are asking that God allow us to share in His Home for our eternal lives

thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

What God wants us to do is what we should do.  He is perfect and what He wants is perfect.  By saying this, we are asking to do God's will (what He wants us to do) so that earth will be as perfect as heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

This means that we trust God to give us what we need.
And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
Trespass means to do a bad thing.  When we trespass against God, its called sinning.  We don't want to hurt God by sinning. By asking God to forgive us our trespasses, we are asking that He forgive our sins and we also promise to forgive people that have hurt us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Pretend there are two roads.  One is hate and anger.  The other is love and peace
and joy.  Which would you take?  Of course, the one with love and peace and joy.
When we are tempted to do the wrong thing, it leads to anger and hate. That is evil.  When we do the right thing, and stay with God, that is love and peace and joy.
When we pray, "And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil," we are
asking God to keep us on the right road.  The road to Him.

Amen

This means that you are certain that God hears your prayers and will answer them.
That is what the prayer means.  Remember, it is a perfect prayer and should be said daily.  If you have any questions, ask your parents and as always, you can ask me.  Ainglkiss@aol.com
