You gave birth to Jesus in a Bethlehem stable . . .
You knew the terror and sorrow of King Herod's madness . . .
You loved your cousin Elizabeth . . .
Surely you knew John the Baptist, son of Elizabeth . . .
You had John the disciple Jesus loved as your friend . . .
You took John as a son . . .
Take us as your daughters and sons . . .
You watched your son tormented and suffering . . .
You were there on that hill as Jesus died . . .
You were with the people who placed his body in the tomb . . .
You saw Jesus alive again in the glory of Easter . . .
You prayed with his friends after he ascended to our Father . . .
You left us no trace of your last years on this earth . . .
There are many who say they have seen you since then . . .
We pray with them, people especially devoted to you . . .
We pray with those who cannot accept their stories . . .
We pray for the poor, who call you their Queen . . .
We pray for the oppressed, who call you their Hope . . .
We pray for justice for your sisters, all women of the world . . .
We pray for our nation, that calls you our patroness . . .
We pray for our pope, who commends our world to your care . . .
We believe you were born free from all evil and sin . . .
We believe God has given you the fullness of everlasting life . . .
We believe that your son Jesus is the son of God . . .
We believe in his promise that his Spirit is always among us . . .
Pray with us, Mother of Jesus . . .
