The Beatitudes

Blessed Are
The Persecuted

The bell rang.

The first day at the new school was done.

Mike walked to the tree to wait for Shelly so they could go home.

Tommy, a new friend, came by and started talking to Mike.

They talked and talked.

"Come with me.  I want to show you something," said Tommy.

"Sure, Tommy," Mike answered and they took off.

They played awhile and talked and started running together.

Before Mike knew it, he was half way home.

Where was Shelly?

He looked around, there was no Shelly!

Where could she be?

What happened to her?

He was supposed to look after his little sister.

He remembered leaving his classroom and walking to the tree and...

Oh My!

He was supposed to meet Shelly at the tree!

He ran as fast as he could back to school.

He ran to the tree.

There was Shelly sitting on the ground waiting for him just as she was supposed to.

"Where were you?" she asked

"Well... I... um..."

"I have been standing here waiting for you!" She was so mad at Mike.

Mike didn't want to tell her what happened.

He didn't want her mad at him.

"Well?" she asked again.

Mike hung his head, "I was with Tommy.  We were talking and running.  Im sorry, Shelly."

Shelly looked at Mike for a long time.

Shelly smiled at Mike, "Let's go home, Mike.  Its getting late".

Jesus teaches us that we must accept responsibility.  Blaming others for our problems or feeling sorry for ourselves is wrong.

What would you have done?
Do you think Mike should have told Shelly the truth?
Should he have blamed Tommy for making him late?
Do you think Shelly should be mad at Mike?
Do you think she should forgive him?
Do you think she should feel sorry for herself for waiting so long?
Do you think Jesus was happy with Shelly and Mike?

Write to me and let me know what you think, BUT, ask your parents first.
